Pad Thai is one of the most popular dishes in Thai cuisine. This stir-fried rice noodle dish is slightly sweet, savory, and aromatic, with a hint of tanginess from lime. Here’s how to make this flavorful dish:

Ingredients:

  • 200 g rice noodles
  • 150 g peeled shrimp (or chicken)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 100 g bean sprouts
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • A handful of crushed roasted peanuts
  • 1 fresh red chili (optional)
  • Fresh coriander

Instructions:

  1. Cook the rice noodles according to package instructions.
  2. Heat a little oil in a wok and sauté the minced garlic for one minute.
  3. Add the shrimp (or chicken) and cook until pink.
  4. Push the shrimp to one side of the wok, crack the eggs on the other side, and scramble them.
  5. Add the cooked noodles, soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and lime juice. Mix well.

  • 500 g chicken or beef, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons Massaman curry paste
  • 1 can coconut milk (400 ml)
  • 2 potatoes, cubed
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon palm sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 1 tablespoon roasted peanuts (optional)

3. Homemade Sushi: A Simple Recipe for Beginners

Sushi is an iconic dish of Japanese cuisine. Although often considered difficult to make, it is quite possible to prepare at home with a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 300 g sushi rice
  • 350 ml water
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 200 g fresh salmon (or tuna, avocado, cucumber)
  • Nori sheets (dried seaweed)
  • Soy sauce for serving

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the sushi rice several times until the water runs clear. Cook the rice in a pot with water.
  2. While the rice cooks, prepare a mixture of rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Warm slightly to dissolve.
  3. Once the rice is cooked, mix it with the seasoned vinegar and let it cool to room temperature.
  4. On a sheet of nori, spread a thin layer of rice, leaving a border at the top.
